Before removing stone stain removal and spots from surfaces, it is crucial to correctly identify the stain and employ the appropriate stain-removing method for the applicable surface material. In case it is a stone surface then one may try it themself or hire a team of professionals. The second option would give better results.
Travertine is a resilient natural stone that comes in a variety of colors, but when it is stained, that hard-working substance may become an expensive financial burden. Travertine is frequently highlighted in home design programs and is consistently mentioned as a selling point by real estate professionals. It is used in everything from floor and wall tiles to countertops. Cleaning stone is challenging, and removing deep stains from it is a challenging procedure.
Healthy Cleaning
When cleaning your stone tiles, avoid using anything abrasive. Your tile will be scratched by steel wool, harsh sponges, and other cleaners. Travertine should be cleaned with delicate clothes, especially before stone stain removal.
Before concentrating on a deep stain, remove any surface dirt. Warm water, a soft cloth, and stone soap or light liquid soap should be used to clean travertine. You must use more forceful remedies if routine cleaning cannot get rid of the spot.
Restoring Damage
Read the labels on your cleaning products and steer clear of any items that include bleach or other acidic compounds. Your travertine tiles’ polish will be permanently harmed by bleach and acids like vinegar and lemon, which leech the color out of the stone. You will either need to have the travertine replaced once it has been harmed by acid or bleach, or you may hire a specialist stone restorer to sand and refinish the tile.
Cleansing Poultice
Deep stains can be removed with the help of poultices. To make a thick paste, combine baking powder with a secure cleanser. Spread the paste on the afflicted area in a layer up to 1/2 inch thick after thoroughly wetting the stain with distilled water. The cleaning solution will stay on top of the stain thanks to the poultice. The poultice should be covered with plastic and secured with tape before being left alone for one to two days. The poultice will draw the stain out of the tile as it dries. Remove any leftover material by washing with distilled water after removing the poultice. If the stain is not eliminated, repeat the procedure; you might have to repeat it up to five times until it is completely gone.
Alkaline
Use an intense alkaline cleanser when the travertine is severely discolored and conventional procedures fail to resolve the issue. Alkaline cleaners used in professional-grade products won’t damage travertine, but you must use them carefully and with caution. Apply the mixture directly to the stain by combining approximately 1/2 cup of the solution with 1 gallon of hot water. After allowing the solution to sit for 15 to 20 minutes, rinse it off. Travertine tile and grout may both be cleaned with an alkaline cleaner.
